From the Sussex Coast to Dover, on the 26, 27 and 28 May 2018.

The Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) are bringing their 2018 event, the Cinque Ports Hundred, to the garden of England.

Kent County Raynet are proud to have been selected as their communications partner, but we need all hands on deck, regardless of experience, for this to be a real success. You don’t need to be a licensed radio amateur to be involved.

Taking place during three non-stop days, the Cinque Ports Hundred will be a semi-linear walk, starting in Hastings and finishing at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School, just outside of Dover. The route will follow coast and countryside, with walkers visiting all the Cinque Ports (Hastings, New Romney, Hythe, Dover and Sandwich) plus the Cinque Port Ancient Towns of Winchelsea and Rye, and the Cinque Port Limbs of Tenterden, Lydd, Folkestone and Deal. The route will turn back to Dover at Sandwich.

How You Can Help

We have a number of roles to staff, please use the form below to let us know which roles you’d like to be considered for and your availability. You can, and should if willing, select more than one role.

Checkpoint Team Member

For those of you at a Checkpoint, multiple shifts are available, each lasting in the range of five to eight hours (some of these shifts will be overnight). Most of the locations are based at a village hall or similar, so will have basic amenities… but we can’t guarantee that you won’t be in the middle of a field somewhere!

Control Room Staff

As this is a non-stop event, we plan to train a few members up for the control room in advance. Staff in this role will need to commit to at least a pair of eight to ten-hour shifts and should ideally be free the entire weekend. If you wish to be considered for a control room position, including non-radio roles, please clearly mark this on the contact form.

In advance of this event, we plan to host two practical training days, in April on dates to be confirmed. Attendance at these training days will be strongly encouraged for those who wish to be selected for control room positions.
